JAHNAVI PUNEKAR (Principal Investigator)
I am a natural history enthusiast fascinated by the evolution of life and biodiversity on Earth. Fossils and the science of reconstructing past environments have captivated my interest since high-school. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Geology (St. Xavier's College, Mumbai) and a Master's degree in Applied Geology (IIT Bombay). My doctoral degree at Princeton University was based on the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary mass extinction ~66 million years ago (the one where dinosaurs, ammonites and many other groups went extinct). My specific interests lie in exploring the applications of micropalaeontology in biostratigraphy and palaeoenvironment/ palaeoclimate reconstructions.
